Best SD for a Blade RH4 (ash body, ebony fretboard, falcon tremolo / sperzel mec)

Hi!

I bought three seymour duncan for my blade guitar two years ago.

- Bridge: duncan distortion
- Middle: SSL-7 staggered
- Neck: Hot Rails

The guitar is a Blade RH4 with
- very high quality sen ash body
- ebony fretboard / Hard Rock Maple neck
- falcon tremolo / sperzel tuners trimlocks

Now i want to change these pickups because the sound is too metal/hard rock oriented and the distortion is a little bit buzzy/arsh in the middle/high spectrum. I'd like to obtain more definition in the distortion sound. The clean is very very impressive!

I often play rock songs. Sometimes some blues...

My idea is:

- bridge pickup: Alnico II Pro Humbucker
- middle pickup: Alnico II Pro Flat
- neck pickup: Cool Rails

What do you think about this setup? Any other ideas or suggestion?

Thanks a lot

I have an 84 Blade with ash body and maple neck and mainly play blues.

JB and two unknown single coils, but they measure about 7.5 mid and 6.7 neck.
I run the Schaller E-Megaswitch which gives me B/B+M/B+N/M+N/N.
The JB is coil split in all but it's own postion, also moved the tone to Bridge and middle pickups.

Great versatile axe and the slightly higher output singles really mix well with the split JB, not too nice, but not to heavy.

Cheers, Will.

PS- I love JB's is strats, series and split....they just rock!

Grani, your are going from one extreme to the other.

JB with two SSL-1 is surely a good way, more bluesy would be a Pearly Gates or a 59

Thank you for your reply. I know that I'm going in a very different way, but I have to do it! I was using that setup because I was playing with only one guitars rock and hard rock. Now I want to use the blade for blues/rock styles and I'll buy an Ibanez for rock/hard rock styles.
I bought an alnico II pro humbucker for the bridge (little more bass and less treble instead of the Pearly Gate) and I will try it when it will arrives!
What about the ssl-1?
I would like an humbucker in the neck position, is the cool rail a good choice?

How did this story finish? I just got the same idea about putting alnico II pro on bridge, alnico II flat on middle and cool rails on neck. Anyone else using this combination?
