Cheap, reliable and quality... at least one of those words has to go....

If you strike away "Cheap", the world opens up with options such as the Petersen Strobostomp (my favorite) or the also highly acclaimed Turbotuner.... I´d look into the Petersen VS1 for the most bang for the buck....

If it's for setups (and not on stage), +1 more on the Peterson VS1. Nice big dispay, very accurate, able to shift tuning one penny at a time, and different tuning "temperaments". (You use "equal" for intonating but "guitar" for tuning. At least that's what Peterson says ;) )

My only gripe is that the "line out" on mine has a bad buzzing problem. It was very new at the time and Petersen had a quick fix which I'm sure has been incorporated into later models. You're not going to want this thing on your pedal board anyway so who cares? Just a thought you might want to know if buying a used one.

My Turbo Tuner has gotten me the closest to being correctly in tune of any tuner. It really helps my classical guitar and classical guitars are senstitive as crap to tuning changes. If you're out just a little you sound terrible.

One thing for sure: the Strobo-Stomp is much more accurate than any of the Boss tuners like the TU-2, TU-12H, TU-15. Even the little Korg CA-30s are more accurate than the Boss.

I have TU-2s on my pedal boards, CA-30s in a couple of acoustic guitar cases, a TU-12H in my "jam session" gig bag; but the Strobo-Stomp stays at home and that's what I use to set intonation.

Strobe tuners are a pain in the ass compared to the Boss Chromatic Tuner. Trying to read those **** wheels that are spinning and sometimes you can't tell clearly what's going on. I had a Peterson Strobe Tuner and used it for years. I finally got rid of it. I'm much happier with my Boss Chromatic Tuner.
