best way to amp an acoustic

Re: best way to amp an acoustic

finally got to take a quick look around the shop and asked some questions.... seems i'll get a DI box and try my Godin thru it for Acoustic sounds for now.... but i do have my eye on some cheaper stage acoustics... a Yamaha was pretty good... a Seagull was a little better for $100 more

I have a Dean Electro/Acoustic guitar that I really like.

1 down side of it is that it's a very deep guitar (around 5 or 6 inches at it's deepest point) so it doesn't have alot of cut wehen soloing on it, but it sounds great for chords and rhythm work :)

To agree with what people have said, Seagulls are one of the best bang for the buck guitar. My model didn't originally come with a preamp but since i got the guitar used, the guy before me had an L.R. Baggs Duet II system put in.

What ever you do get a preamp that allows you to choose to go piezo or internal mic. That is one of the best systems you can have. I can go with either one or I can blend them both together to find the right sound. I can also run a stereo cable to it and have them separately run to a sound board to be mixed by a sound guy.http://www.seagullguitars.com/electronics.htm

Go with the Yamaha. I did a lot of research on them and played quite a few, all of them nice. Ended up with an APX5A and could have brought home a Takamine for less and a lot more features but it was too big fand the whole dreadnought thing wasn't for me.

600€ will get you a nice guitar with a solid V neck and a great feeling fretboard with large frets. It's basically an electric guitar's neck attached to a thinner acustic body. To me (and my not to good ears) it still sounds full.

Amplified, it's basically the same thing, only more defined.
