Better Bass Response... JB or Custom Custom

I currently have a JB in a guitar that is a little bright sounding to begin with. I'm thinking of dumping the JB in favor of a Custom Custom (to warm it up), but am not sure about the bass response. The JB seems to have a harsh mid spike, and an undefined bass, though I do atleast hear some bass. (Already have an Alinico Pro 2 in the neck, and am VERY happy with it.)

If the Custom Custom has the same, or hopefully a little more bass than a JB... I'm sold.

definately more bass..and you loose the mid response of the JB and the highs are tamed a bit...I put one in my freinds SG about a year ago...
it has a decent split and full HB sound...very hard rock/metal..and can do blues well

I will be a lone dissenter here, me thinks -

but I think it will be roughly the same, only the CC will APPEAR to have more bass because it is spongier and warmer in some of the lower mids. They are somewhat similar pickups, both have a great mid signature. Only the JB is tight and cuts thru a band using fat mids, and the CC is more of the classic sponge and A2 kinda tone, nice and warm and butta! It won't be a huge departure to go from a JB to a CC in terms of EQ signature than it is in terms of feel and tone in terms of responsiveness.

i'm afraid that you won't see any improvement in the bass responce going from the JB to the CC...infact the CC has a much less "defined" bass.........and even though the JB does not have the "right" bass i think it is better in that department than the CC.......

I believe the JB is one of the best duncan HB (and the sales seem to agree) but always thought that its weak point is the bass responce.......with a little bit more bass and low mids (so as to make it a little bit warmer) it would be the perfect pickup.....

I am making an A5 JB/Custom Hybrid for WILDSTAR this weekend...

This might fill the bill for you as well... you get the signature mid response of the JB mixed with the nice bass and highs of the Custom 5...
