Big Muff & Pup question - PF "Dogs" 1st solo

A question for Muff specialists :

I am usually not into tone nailing, but my favorite tone is the first solo in Pink Floyd "Dogs" (starting at 1"49) - Animals (1977)
I cannot describe it properly but at least I would say it is fuzzy, full and "round".

So I was wondering if David Gilmour uses the neck pickup of his '55 Esquire Telecaster OR uses the bridge pickup to get more higher harmonics and then makes it darker turning down his Ram's Head BMP tone control.

(The following solos on the slower parts are clearly with the bridge pickup).

Despite my user ID and fact that Gilmour is one of my favorite guitarists, I’ve not been able to nail those Animals tones, even though it shouldn’t be too complex. I definitely understand, it’s a different tone than the following solos, more round. It still sounds like the bite of a bridge pickup, but definitely rolled off. Or could be the neck.... great song though!

Yes, the bite tells me bridge but there’s a unique smoothness. Maybe it comes from the modulation or picking towards the neck.

or studio magic. im pretty sure thats the bridge pup, great tune and tone

Thanks for your answers. I grew up listening to that music (along with Ummagumma disc 1 / live).
(I was pretty sure PFDarkside would answer :) )

So yes the first solo is probably with the bridge pickup rolled off and then next solo with the tone know up again.

And I should have mentioned that the body of that guitar is most probably ash (as from 1955).
