Bill Lawrence L500L compared to a C5?

I've been reading the post on the L500L compared to the Demon and it got me curious. How is it output-wise and tone-wise compared to a C5? Or would an L500XL be more comparable?

Both are probably higher output (definitely the XL), but they are more evenly EQ'd and "clear" sounding.

I would say the XL500 would be more comparable. To me they are similar but, the BL has maybe a bit more mids and its own kind of sound. The output is in the same ballpark as each other with maybe the BL being a touch hotter. To me the BL is more versatile but, the only way to really explain it is by getting a C5 and getting a BL and trying them yourself.

Hmmm...I was hoping for a tad more highs and maybe lows than the C5. On the other hand, I think I might have a very mid-heavy guitar (is there such a thing?) because the C5 seems to have plenty of mids, while others say it is scooped...:boggled:

i own both

to my ears, the C5 is way more scooped and a bit less hot than the XL500 ... i think the 500XL has a stronger personality than the C5, in as much as it might tend to overshadow the guitar if you just crank it and go (which is good if the guitar's natural tone isnt as pleasing - or bad if the guitar is sweet sounding on its own) .. by really dialing it in, the XL500 can bring out the guitar's natural quality with greater transparency .. oddly, it LOVES rack effects too (cleans to die for) ... but if it is run full out, it can be really brutal ... i havent had the C5 'get away' from me ... it has a nice punch too it without being insane .. it sounds great straight into the amp

depends on what your looking for

i love both, but they are totally different beasts to my ears

So, if the 500XL is hotter than the C5, would you say the 500L is closer to the C5 in output?
