Bit the Bullet and ordered a 78 badass pedal

Re: Bit the Bullet and ordered a 78 badass pedal

I love a dirt pedal. The Variety Per Dollar ratio of most ODs, distortions and fuzzes beats out every other category of gear.

Trying to find the perfect saturated tone is like trying to find the perfect wave :14:

Sweet! Can't wait to hear your review. :beerchug:

I hear ya on dirt pedals being addictive, though I'm a relatively recent addict. I own three and that pretty much covers all the bases I need to cover but still, every time I see a new dirt pedal I'm all like, "Ooooo, I bet that sounds awesome...". :banghead:

Re: Bit the Bullet and ordered a 78 badass pedal

don't blame ya...i like it

you should save yourself some money and get a Box of Rock tho. I stopped impulsively buying dirt pedals because the BoR is so tough to beat.

Re: Bit the Bullet and ordered a 78 badass pedal

Don't know why I am obsessed with overdrive and distortion pedals.... I need help :eyecrazy:

If you're obsessed with OD and dist pedals the only help you need is help with getting more! Seriously, expose yourself to as many box's as you can, learn their tones, their 'feel' and their dynamics and you can help others in making the right decision when buying gear. People that can only buy guy based on online research will greatly appreciate what you have to offer.

I feel dirty after reading this thread:eyecrazy:

Recently Bought a Suhr Riot, Shiba and ISO boost. Quietest (In terms of noise) dirt boxes I've heard.

I try everything I can afford. What I like gets to stay.

I have a bunch as well. They are relatively cheap by comparison to amps & guitars so I understand the addiction. I now have a Super Overdrive that I don't use, a Bad Monkey that I don't use, an Eric Clapton Crossroads pedal(never really plugged into it) I think I have a Rat somewhere. Then I have a TS9(2 on 2 different boards), and a hot rodded TS808.

Yeah I'm getting one as Well.......
Got a ton of dirt pedals.
That way there is always something that fits:D
Pedals are good fun.... mostly because they are relativly cheap, and plentyful.

Out of the bunch what I have kept so far...

1)Fulltone OCD v.4
2)Hardwire CM-2
3)Boss OD-3
4)MXR Micro Amp (Not sure if this qualifies)

What I have not Kept:
1)Boss DS-1
2)Boss DS-2
3)Boss OS-2
4)Boss SD-1
5)Boss BD-2
5)Digitech Bad Monkey
6)Marshall BB-2
7)SD Twin Tube Classic (This sounded great.. not pedal board friendly and needed some cash)
8)Digitech Screaming Blues
9)DOD Supra Distortion
10) MXR Distortion + (Should have kept this one)

Re: Bit the Bullet and ordered a 78 badass pedal

Badass is an understatement... This thing rocks and I am looking for reasons to keep the OCD on the board. They should have marketed it as an overdrive though cause that's what it is. It is a badass overdrive. Housing seems to be a lighter construction than typical MXR... Aluminum maybe?

Jeorge Tripps has been a big asset to Dunlop/MXR. He's responsible for all the best pedals, from the Hendrix and VH reissues, to the Carbon Copy, as well as the Way Huge line. That's why Dunlop/MXR has gotten so good in recent years.

I will probably sell my ZW OD and replace it with the 78. I'm keeping the Classic OD, because I love that pedal. My main two OD's are the Klon and Way Huge Green Rhino.

I am a believer! I hope they continue to put out great stuff.
