This is a song I put on here a wee while ago, but I have updated it a little with a further solo and also a spoken word part which may sound utterly hilarious/ridiculous. I don't know, tell me please!
It's supposed to be an Egyptian themed song, but I'm afraid I only have a Scottish accent and a crappy microphone! :28:

Comments please?

Did you write that entire solo note for note.... because if so: dang, that's some pretty good writing :headbang:

I also liked the drum during the song, had some cool egyptian vibe to it :)
Just 2 minor thing I 'd change: maybe the solo could use (from time to time) some exotic notes, would add more to the egyptian vibe.
And second, maybe you could fool around with some cool fx on the voice, to make it a bit more interesting

just my 2 cents :)

It's not Egyptian in anymeans ,but it's a cool song! The rythm sound is too loose and dirty ,I would turn the gain a bit down. I like the lead tone! The melodies are beautiful .

Listen to some egyptian music to understand the scale.

Thanks for the comments guys. :)

Shark, I wrote the solo yeah, although, hardly note for note. I just played whatever seemed to fit. I can't remember exactly but it would have been over a few tries. I did try some FX on the voice, but it just seemed to make it really indistinct. The mic I used was a really crappy one. :(

Daemon, I really appreciate those nice comments. Like you say, I don't understand the scale, it just sounded kinda Egyptian to me, in an Iron Maiden, "Powerslave" kinda way! The rythm (well, all of the guitars) were done using my RR3 with Blackouts. If doing it now I would have used the Blackouts for one rythm track and something more vintage like my A2Pro for another.

Boat, it's not really Nile inspired. I LOVE Nile, but they weren't really in my head when I did the song. It was based around the drum beat on Malmsteen's first song on the "Rising Force" album! It always seemed more like ritual music, rather than a true "song", hence the spoken word part.

Hahaha... Man ,it's not just about the scale ,it's about the bendings ,the bond between the notes and the rythmic aspect of the concept.

Listen to the song NINJA from cacaphony ,and you will undertsand what I mean.,
Or chck Chuck's (R.I.P) solo on Perrnial quest.
The chord progression and the rythm is pushing this oriental feeling as he dances on the notes.

But Egyptian isn't Oriental...I have that song Ninja, it's doesn't make me think of Egypt - Ninjas were Japanese were they not?

Yeah, great stuff here man! Maybe through a little harmonic minor in there. I had a lot of fun listening to this. Even enjoyed the spoken lines. High five!

very ****ing good stuff man
q:)
what amp did you use for it?!
i liked it, its a lot crunch in this clip.

No amp, it was through my Toneport, straight into the computer.
I like the sound, it's great considering you can record in a bedroom at midnight without anyone knowing!

Re: Black Flame of Set, updated

pretty cool. Im hearing the minor scale, maybe some harmonic minor and chromatic. Your playing within your ability which is commendable. For tone, it reminds me of my toneport lol! Pretty tough to dial in. Rhythym Guitars sound a bit abrasive which fatigues the listeners ears but that is no big deal and can be adjusted, comes with experience. Recording tone is like a recipe, a dab of limiter, compressor, mids on the amp, the right amount of distortion, and whalla :) It reminds me of early Godsmack songs which I really dig. Cheers :)
