Black Ice

Re: Black Ice

It's passive schottky diode distortion isn't it? You could wire up your own for a lot cheaper than that.

Re: Black Ice

I haz one. It sounds like boiled sphincters. Seriously. Passive diode clipping is not like any form of distortion you're imagining.

Re: Black Ice

I've installed one on a friend's guitar. Gives you a slight gain boost, most noticeable when playing clean.

Re: Black Ice

Just get two very low voltage drop diodes, and wire them in parallel with the cathode/anode reversed on one of the diodes. Done. That is quite literally what the Black Ice is, and it costs only a few cents rather than $20 - $30.

Re: Black Ice

I would rather watch meatspin for minutes on end than have to use the tone that the Black Ice produces.
