Black Metal Pickup

So I'm lead guitar in a black metal band and my invader is straight up too muddy for the kind of scratchy leads I want to do. Looking for a change.

Specifically, I want to be able to play heavily distorted chords and have the higher notes come through over the lower notes. With distortion the loudest notes hitting your gain stages tend to drown out the others and I would like those to be the higher ones rather than the lower ones unlike with my invader.

Black winter sprung to mind immidiately but I'm concerned about losing mid presence. Nazgul might be an option but the highs might not be loud enough to shine through over the mids and I'll be back where I started.

Whaddaya think?

I don't think you will have any midrange issues with the Black Winters. They seem to be made for you. I always thought they sounded pretty balanced.

Re: Black Metal Pickup

Of course the Black Winter would be the obvious choice however, the Alpha/Omega set maybe something that would work for black metal as well. They are very clear and resonate great with chords. Full Shred maybe another option-again, very articulate pickup.

Re: Black Metal Pickup

The Full Shred could be great for thinned out scratchy black metal. Would be my 1st choice since I prefer alnico over ceramic.

Omega would be awesome for black metal. Maybe dimarzio d activator. Black winter is a pickup ive wanted to try for a while. The omega and titan are the only ones ive played outta these. Omega is pure death/black metal in a pickup

Re: Black Metal Pickup

The Alumitone Deathbucker is made of metal. It also comes in black.

Re: Black Metal Pickup

Definitely look at the Black Winter, D-Activator and maybe even the Screamin' Demon...

Re: Black Metal Pickup

Played both the alpha/omega set and the black winters and I can positively they can quite easily scare the nearest churchgoers with relative ease
