Re: Black or White Bobbins?

In my opinion, both would work fine, but for white bobbins perhaps changing the Pickup Ring to accentuate the white bobbins through a contrasting color. I think white bobbins would look better with a black pickup ring or purple?

I see that. yes, definitely black rings, that would look better.

That would be my preffered option for this finish. I would like to do purple if I could afford to get a custom with a blue/green dragons breath.

Re: Black or White Bobbins?

I'm thinking black rings and parchment now. The off white will match the off white of the body. i think that's what I was envisioning.

Re: Black or White Bobbins?

+1. The white/parchment/cream type thing is not a colour used anywhere else on the guitar.

Re: Black or White Bobbins?

Hi,
I agree with Glorioso, black rings, double parchment, no questions, I have seen them all, and used double cream ( a happy accident with my covered Antiquities ) parchment, double white, double black, zebras-cream/black. I don't care for other colors: green, purple, etc.
I never liked the neck with out a nickel cover. Relic or new, my free extra 2 cents.
Cheers,
Steve Buffington

Re: Black or White Bobbins?

I'd say white. That would jump out nicely, and add contrast. Parchment/Cream would make it look a bit too traditional and "run-of-the-mill" so to speak.

But that just me.

Re: Black or White Bobbins?

I see the body as blue and a bit of off white. I have in others, double covered, double black, and one covered and one not (Page). I don't think covered would look good so I'm spitballing here. Thanks for helping.

Definitely not cream and maybe white. I think the off white in the body would match the parchment. White would stand out though.

Re: Black or White Bobbins?

A better comparison with parchment, black and white...

White. Definitely.

How it lines with the neck just fits.

1. Black. Just looks, I don't know, tougher?
2. Cream. Classic look.
3. White. Makes the guitar seem prissy to me.

Re: Black or White Bobbins?

Have you considered nickel covers? Thats assuming that's nickel hardware, it's hard to tell on my monitor.

Re: Black or White Bobbins?

After all of that, I think I'm keeping them black. I didn't consider covers but maybe?

Thanks!
