Black Sabbath Tribute

Here's a video from our first official gig last Saturday. I used my new Orange OR15, and oh boy, does it do Sabbath well.

Re: Black Sabbath Tribute

Finally got some more video from our first show. This first one is Electric Funeral straight into Fairies Wear Boots. That's why the name is mashed up.

Very cool! Interesting, as Tony really hated Orange amps. He used them on a TV show because the company sponsored the show and every band on the show had to use them, but none of the bands liked 'em back then (modern ones sound better). He always preferred Laneys in the 70s.

Yeah, that OR-15 really doesn't sound like any Orange Tony would have encountered...it's more Marshally and bright. He used a Laney LA100BL head at first, and they had a nice, bright clean tone. He punched them up with a treble booster to get them where he wanted. The OR15 does a pretty good job. It's hands-down the best OD I've had in an amp.

Re: Black Sabbath Tribute

Great covers man. IMHO I'd like the singer's voice to be more like Ozzy's but that's asking too much already!

Yeh, the new Orange amps have little to do with the 70s, except the looks.

Re: Black Sabbath Tribute

Gunna play devil's advocate here (it IS Sabbath after all):

Your bass player needs to learn the ****ing songs. I can get over using the pick (especially as he's picking high up) but damn, so many lines missing or just wrong. Real shame cause the rest of you sound great.

Did I miss the chicken head being bit off? That was the best thing they ever did. Nice work with the Orange amp.

Yeah, he kinda glosses over some of the details, for sure. He made it into his 60s without playing any Sabbath, and it's still new to him.

Geezer is certainly worth studying. Especially live...he plays a lot of notes! And not just pedaling on one note, he really goes crazy. Great tone, too.

Re: Black Sabbath Tribute

Cool. It seems that booking a Black Sabbath Tribute would be easy, since bar owners know it would pull in a wide demographic and age range.

Re: Black Sabbath Tribute

All the future "Will an OR-15 be loud enough....?" threads should be directed here.

Good stuff!
