Re: Black winter 59 opinions
I have a Black Winter set, and like said above, the BW neck is the best match for the BW bridge. And you definitely won't be lacking in clarity, BWs are very clear and articulate, and are very well balanced overall. They truly give you what your guitar really is, IMHO. The only drawback being is if your guitar has any weird quirks in it's natural tone, because it will come through in spades. But in the right guitar, it they're magic.
So far my favorite two guitars I've had them in are my Les Paul and my bolt on Jackson King V with an alder body and maple neck with a rosewood board. I've also ran them with 250k pots and a .022uf cap and 500k pots and .047uf cap(s), and honestly, they seemed just as at home with the 250k setup as they did with the 500k. Probably because of the extended top end. It isn't piercing or shrill by any means, they just have a crispness that many other pickups don't have.
