Black Winter Bridge in all Mahogany plus 59n or screamin demon neck?

I had asked this question in another thread but thought id put it out to a wider audience. I am practically convinced to put a BW bridge in my SG. Just curious how the BW bridge would fair in an all mahogany SG? Anyone have any experience with BW bridge in Mahogany? Also, I from several that the sreamin demon makes a really good neck pup....So I am trying to decide between a 59 neck or screamin demon to pair with BW bridge. I need a neck pup that will pull off some blues tones...can the screamin demon do it?

Thanks

I have a Black Winter (b) in a mahogany Ibanez. Sounds absolutely AMAZING. I paired it with a '59 in the neck. It is a 4 conductor '59 out of a Schecter Baritone so I can split it, which does blues exceptionally well. It also shreds pretty darn good too when I want it to. The Black Winter sounds like a Duncan Distortion with more mids but it is still just as tight in the bass department. I highly recommend that combo. I have no experience with the Screamin' Demon but I really dig the BW/'59. I play that guitar every day. Hope this helps.

I haven't used a Demon in the neck of a SG, but I've used them in the bridge of two different ones and they're awesome

Wow, nice to hear the split does blues. Thanks. When I get them installed do what do I tell the tech just that ," I want to split them"....never had pick ups installed before" and I guess I would need some kind of push/pull pot/knob?

Thanks

Yeah push/pull controls would work well. The Black Winter will ha email no problem with the coil split but if you choose a Duncan '59 for the neck, you will have to make sure you get the 4 conductor '59 as it comes in both the 4 conductor and 2 conductor. You can't split the 2 conductor. Hope you like the combo. If you want a more "shreddy" neck pickup, the Screamin' Demon may be better for you. If you want a more bluesy/classic rock type of neck pup, the '59 is a sweet choice. It will shred but the Demon would be better if that's what you will play more often.

id just go for the bw neck... from what i hear it cleans up just as well as any 59/jazz

Oh don't get me wrong, I had the BW neck in before I swapped it out for the '59, and yes it does clean up. Very well. It just has a lot more output/crunch/compression than the '59. Not sure about the Jazz though. Never had the chance to try one.

well its quite smooth isnt it? ive never tried it...

Re: Black Winter Bridge in all Mahogany plus 59n or screamin demon neck?

Oh yeah. Smooth as buttah! It has this crunchy thing that I really dig and this "woody" thickness that is soooo musical and just sounds amazing. Nice high-mids in there too. Man you got me jonesin' to put that thing back in the neck of my Ibanez and take the '59 out. Lol!!!

Yes, the SD can do it!

But whats the best pick for shredding?

I'd say Sentient, Jazz and Full Shred.
