Black Winters and Semi-Hollows

I have a set of Black Winters I really want to use, but I have literally nothing to put it in. I sort of fell in love with a Semi Hollow PRS SE, and considering picking up that. My fear is the pickups will either be too brittle sounding in the semi hollow, or too high output and I'll get obnoxious feedback. Any thoughts?

Or suggestions of other pickups. I play a lot of metal, from Opeth and BTBAM to Parkway Drive and Ghost Inside.

I don't think a Semi hollow would be a weapon of choice for Parkway Drive. They might work wonders in a semi-hollow but don't expect to be able to put on too much gain.

Oh I know. This would be more towards the Opeth/Prog side of things for me.

I also considered BKP Blackhawks. . .but don't feel like spending 300 buck

Do it. Blow peoples minds when you take out this sweet and innocent semihollow and the sound from it rips though their face flesh and blisters their eyeballs out of their sockets.

Re: Black Winters and Semi-Hollows

You won't get much feedback at all if you're using the black winters in the prs se semihollow I think you're using. Is it the one with the sole cats eye f-hole and the scaled down body that's roughly the size of the normal double cut prs s22? Plus the black winters are heavily potted and extra shielding can be added to your guitar to reduce even more noise. Plus that isn't a very bright guitar stock.

Honestly, it'd go into that Zach Myers SE coming out next year. Mahogany body, maple top etc etc.

And if it does feedback, a guy could stuff some open celled foam in the F hole.

Like this one?
Yeah those kinds of prs se guitars are like semi semi hollows. Scaled down and only one f-hole so only one place acoustic sound can even escape the instrument from. Basically a les paul with a chamber and a hole in it. These were done to further address those feedback issues. It should survive easily, especially with shielding.

Re: Black Winters and Semi-Hollows

Honestly it sounds like the Black Winter does some pretty good cleans too. . . This guitar needs to come out already so i can play them
