Blackout N in bridge position?

I have tried to find as much as possible about this before asking. That being said, I picked up a JS32 Dinky for my upcoming vacation to Afghanistan, and have a set of BO's not being used. I have read bits and pieces about people swapping the Neck and Bridge around. Does it make it better?

Re: Blackout N in bridge position?

I think so. The neck in the bridge is "akin" to swapping an EMG 85 into the bridge from the neck spot. The BOn is more organic...not as flamethrower hot...a little more open...has more pleasant mids...is grindie. I much preffered it to the bridge PuP.

I'm actually installing a AHB-3n in the bridge of my Caparison this weekend...

BTW...I was stationed in Germany for 8 years (Hanau, Fliegerhorst, and Budiken) and had a year deployment to Bosnia. I packed my guitar in my Hummer when the time came...and it was fine when I got there. Good luck with everything!

MW,

Thanks for the quick reply. So I think Ill give the N in Bridge/Bridge in N a shot. Thanks for the support, yeah this is my second go round in Germany, I was in Bosnia as well back in 96/97

Re: Blackout N in bridge position?

I think its thicker and has a better lead tone. I was nt a fan of bridge in the neck though

Re: Blackout N in bridge position?

Get the hell out...I was in Bosnia in 96 myself. What camp were you at? I was at Tusla Main.

The bridge in the neck won't work too well. Too much output...way too much bass. I bought a guitar and it had a AHB-2 in the neck. Total distorted crap. I didn't know it was the metal model until I flipped it over. No wonder the previous owner didn't like it...

Re: Blackout N in bridge position?

I was at Camp Dobol(SP) Well I only have one set, so should I just stick with the proper setup? I guess I could see if I could find a trade for another neck, but I dont think I have enough time before Afghanistan.

Re: Blackout N in bridge position?

I just replaced an emg 81 with a AHB-3 neck pickup in my rr24m. The emg was way to bright with the maple/maple neck through alder body, and had no low end. The AHB-3 has a much better bottom end- tight, present, and not boomy. The mids are articulate and present. I am not much of a lead player, but the highs are not shrill like the Emg. Sounds great in this guitar, I could not be happier.

You just made my day!!!!

Re: Blackout N in bridge position?

Right on! I hope you like it as much as I do. Might be cool to A/B the neck and bridge pickup in the same position. Thanks for serving btw
