Blackouts

I bought a MM petrucci last week and i really don't dig the sound of them dimarzios, i always disliked dimarzios but the guitar is SO COMFORTABLE. hard for me to go back to my warmoth, only reason i do go back is the sound, dimarzios D-sonic and Air zone are horrible compared to blackouts (passive are dark and it's like someone put a blanket on my speaker, the blackouts are ripping anyone who comes near with awesome brightness and definition)

only question is
how will the blackouts sound on the petrucci
it has a basswood body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard.

warmoth is mahogany flame maple top with maple neck and fingerboard.

will they have the same awesome effect they had on the warmoth as on the petrucci ?

i'd re-wire the pickups from one guitar to another, but i love the warmoth as it is and the wiring i done was superb (i hope :D) and i don't wanna ruin it.

anyone ever tried the blackouts on a guitar like the petrucci ?

Re: Blackouts

Basswood tends to be mid-ground when it comes to tone. It's not as bassy as mahogany nor sounds as bright as alder. It's got its own distinctive tone. A JB in a basswood body would sound flat like a stock pickup would, yet it kicks ass in alder bodied guitars. Dimarzio pickups tend to have that tight bass in most of their pickups and they sound great in basswood. The blackouts I've been hearing brings out the sound of the wood more, so I can't possibly say how it sounds like in a basswood bodied guitar. Give it a try, it can't be possibly any worse than the Dimarzio's that were in there.
