Blackouts

Hi all,

I was hoping to have a little help regarding Blackouts. I just signed up to your forum today and am a total newbie.

I just had the AHB-3's installed in my EVH Peavey and I am in love. They are truly amazing. They were a pain to fit though :-(

I previously had a 59 and a Screamin Demon in it.

I am now considering to install Blackouts in all my guitars.

Question 1

...relating to my Ibanez RG2228 8 String. Can I simply unplug the EMG 808s and plug in an 8 string Blackout without the need to rewire?

Question 2

Do the 8 string versions only come as an AHB-1?

Question 3

Can I buy a SSH set of Blackouts? All I can see on-line is SSS or HH sets.

Question 4

Do you think they will it my Fender 88 HM Strat. I currently have Dimarzio Fast Tracks in the Neck and Middle and a Tone Zone in the bridge.

Thank you ;-)

Justin

Re: Blackouts

Question #1: Yes
Question #2: Yes
Question #3: Yes, but we do not sell a dedicated HSS set, so you will have to get the humbucker and two singles individually.
Question #4: The 6-string AHB-1 should fit into any standard humbucker sized pickup slot. There may be rare exceptions, but not many. The singles should fit with no problem.

Re: Blackouts

Hi Scott

Thanks for your help.

I just bought blackouts for my 8 string. I cant wait to test them out. They will arrive soon ;-)

Another question if you don't mind.....?

I am weighing up whether to buy blackouts for my SSH guitar that currently has Dimarzio's - Fast track 1 (x 2) and a Tone Zone or...test the blackout module. What would you recommend?

Does the module have a battery?

Any help will be great

Cheers

Justin

Re: Blackouts

Yes the BMP1 uses a battery. The BMP piggy backs your current pickups it will give you a blend of about 80% blackout tone with about 20% of the tone of your pickups. If you really dig the sound of blackouts go that way but if you like the pickups you have now and want to pump up the output a few notches go the BMP1

Re: Blackouts

One module does plenty.

Right now, you and your Blackouts pickups are enjoying a honeymoon period. I suggest that you wait until this is over before fitting one style of pickup in every single guitar that you own.

PLEASE NOTE - I am not knocking active pickups in general or SD Blackouts in particular. I have a Blackout Strat middle pickup between two Live Wire Classic II humbuckers. I have a BO bass humbucker. My favourite BO series product is the 2-band EQ for bass guitar.

Re: Blackouts

^ This. If your other pickups sound great as well I dying see why you would retrofit all of your axes with one sound. Perhaps you favor consistency over variance?

Re: Blackouts

Yeah.... fair enough. Maybe I am in the hot new relationship faze. I would possibly be happier in the long run with a bit of variety. Thanks for the reality check :-)
