Blackouts!

Hey guys I am new to the forum. I just purchased a Esp EC1000T CTM that came stock with the Emg 81/60 combo. It sounded great, but I work at a local music store and saw we had a pair of Blackouts. Being a huge fan of Seymour Duncan, and new to active pickups in general I had to grab them up to compare. The Verdict: I absolutely love them! to my ears they sound way better than the Emg's I have. I knew the second I struck the first chord these Blackouts were here to stay. I spent a lot of time researching them on forums and listening to YouTube clips comparing the two before I spent my hard earned cash, and there is not one video that does the Blackouts any justice. In most of the clips the Emg's sound better or the Blackouts sound very similar to them (probably Youtube Processing), but I'm here to tell you that is not the case at all when you play with them in person! I almost didn't buy the Blackouts because of other forum posts saying they are metal only pickups and believing from clips I heard that I should just keep my Emgs. I am so happy I found these pickups. They are very versatile as well. I play everything from blues rock to 80s hair metal to modern hard rock and metal and these Blackouts deliver. You still get all the clarity and power that you expect from Emg but a more organic sound they are the best of both worlds if you are used to Passives like I was. What's your Preference? Would love to know why you chose Emg or Blackouts. If you have any questions about Blackouts shoot me a message. :headbang:

Re: Blackouts!

I like the blackouts as well. I'm selling a set right now to fuel my experiments, but they were great in my explorer. Emgs sounded good for metal in my guitar, but not much else

Re: Blackouts!

The EMTY set are the only ones that impressed me. My EMGs sounded way better than the others, to my ears.

Re: Blackouts!

I have one in the Bridge of a Dean Vendetta - that pup can rock just about anything at the correct volume level!
