Have you tried recording it? Close miking would take a lot of the boxiness out.

i played 1 in a music store but i've got a blackstar ht-20 head and i can't get tone like that. do you have to mic amps to get that type of tone.

might just be all knobs dimed. apparently helps if you're name is gus, hehe.

Re: Blackstar 1watt amp LOL

I'm not familiar with the blackstars but a dimed 1 watt tube amp can sound HUGE, as opposed to your 20 watter which you probably (I say that without having any clue of the way you use it though) never quite really crank to its maximum potential.

My blackheart killer ant is not a metal machine but when cranked to 10 and with a good tubescreamer type boost in front, I can get very close to that video's tone...

Tone...not playing!

Historically, a fair number of those dudes that used to rock 100w Marshall fullstacks on stage were using small little Fender and Supro combos in the studio.

I recently went to check one of these out, and yes they can sound huge as long as it is hooked up to a decent cab. The store I went to had it paired with an Orange cab and it was very impressive.
