Blacktop Jazzmaster and P-Rail with Triple Shot Ring

I just picked up a used Fender Blacktop Jazzmaster and I'm thinking a creme P-Rail with the Triple-Shot pickup ring might be a cool option to put in the bridge position. That would give me single-coil, P90 and Humbucker sounds in the bridge along with that classic Jazzmaster sound in the neck.

Are there any issues I might run into with this setup? Will the Triple-Shot mount up to this type of guitar with a pickguard properly?

Sounds like a great idea. The only issue is whether the neck pickup is in phase with the P-Rails. But you can reverse phase at the toggle switch just by reversing the black and white wires if necessary. It will not change the way the switches operate. You could also reverse phase of the neck pickup instead.

I like Jazzmaster pups a lot. The best adjective for their sound I can think of is "spicy". I did check out a guitar with P-rails the other day and I was very impressed with all the tones it can make. This should be an epic-sounding axe!

Yeah, if necessary I'll just reverse the phase of the neck pickup...easy enough.

Thanks for the info! I'll report back when I get the changes made.

I just bought the guitar on ebay last night so probably won't have it until early next week. That will give me time to buy a pickup and ring.
