I love my Mama Bear. Like Dave says, it's not the same as mic-ing up a really great acoustic, but it is far, far better than the straight piezo.

I thought about these for a while now. Thanks for posting this. Right now I've got a DeArmond volume pedal, a TU-3, an ART Studio V3 tube preamp, a Danelectro Fish&Chips, and an Ibanez CF-7 on my pedalboard. I have a K&K Pure Floating on my Godin 5th Avenue and a K&K Pure Resonator BB for my Epi MD100. I like the warmth the ART adds, can I run the Mama Bear along with it?

Yes, I would make it last in the chain though. To be fair, I hadn't tried a magnetic pickup into it- just piezos. Neat thing about it is how it captures the essence of the guitars being modeled. I don't know why it isn't more popular than it is.

oh yeah...it should still work, although I didn't test it with an actual resonator to see if it could transform that sound into something other than a resonator. My guess is that if you wanted to use it to get a better resonator sound out of your K&K, it would do that.

As a start-up, D-TAR never got the marketing support it needed. Mama Bear is truly a revolutionary device. Years from now, it'll be a cult favorite. You heard it here first.

Yeah I think that is true, and one of the reasons I wanted to do the blog. Imagine the same idea developed further- having a box that could mimic different electric guitars or pickups. I have seen so many live bands with terrible acoustic sound- I think we are just used to hearing it.

I dunno... I listened to most of the clips, and wasn't as impressed as I had expected. I have a Zoom A2 that seems to do about the same thing. It also has compression, reverb, adjustable EQ and so forth. It's programmable, and it costs quite a bit less. What does the Mama Bear do that accounts for the higher price tag?

Very cool indeed...I actually reckon that the toughest challenge is not your piezo-loaded Brian Moore, but would be trying to make my POS cheapy Hohner actually sound like an acoustic guitar!

So how would this work with something like the Graphtech ghost system that's built into an electric guitar? This has me intrigued because I hate playing acoustics, but love the sound of them.
