Blog: Washburn's New Ola Englund Series

Re: Blog: Washburn's New Ola Englund Series

Awesome looking! Im a Washburn fanboy, so always cool to see them bring a good product. Their Custom shop doesnt get the due they deserve. Doesnt say if these are set neck or bolt on. Cant go wrong with a Custom 5! (especially when you toss in an alnico 8. haha) I keep hearing great things about the evertune.
Thanks for sharing!

Wish they would do a real gloss finish and also offer up a blinged out version with a nice flame or quilt top.
Looks like a really cool guitar but don't know what the heck Washburn is thinking only offering flat finishes on the USA custom shop version??

No, they are not, and they use a tuba for tuning reference.

Re: Blog: Washburn's New Ola Englund Series

When the first news about the Parallaxe hit the intrawebs I was really interested in them, these ones seem to be even cooler looking with those angled cutouts.
Too bad they're hardtail only...

Well they offer the several of the import Parallaxe with figured tops and gloss but the USA CS guitars are all solid color and flat finishes. Guess the USA CS guys have forgotten how to properly finish a guitar huh? I mean seriously if the USA is the flagship with a $3K+ tag--- :nono:just saying:rolleyes:.

Yeah for the type of metal he plays, a fancy finish and Floyd roses are not where it's at. I think the guitar looks great.

Re: Blog: Washburn's New Ola Englund Series

why this guy got so famous? :dunno:

Becuz dem chops. Also Six Feet Under.

Yeah I like plain finishes and minimal stuff on it that works solid. Look and plays clean. Got a particular fondness for esquires and hard tail 1 pickup shred sticks, So i can respect a plain finish, 2 pickups and a bridge that won't budge. It's MORE than what you need if you have quality stuff. Granted I'll never give up my strat with phase switching.

Good for Ola, he does great demos and has a great sense of humor....also glad he is picking up guitar duties for the Haunted...

I get that for HIM and for metal guys. However there is more to the market for a guitar like that than just a very small extreme metal niche and there should be finish options at that price point on the USA CS guitar. Several of the Parallaxe imports offer both a gloss finish and a figured top just not the USA CS line according to what I can find from Washburn.
The MSR of the USA CS version of that guitar is above $3K. For me to consider spending that kind of $ I want to see gloss and a nice figured top.
I am a big time Washburn USA fan and own several but would not even consider buying that guitar at that price in a flat finish and that's a fact.

He playwith 6 feet under? I too always wondered. I know he does demos and all and sells cds from his current project after the demos, but I always wondered why it seemed he was more recognized than just for that.

Yeah, seems like they do it backwards. I guess they either arent into doing full cs work, or maybe someone just has to pony up some serious cash. Washburn has always seemed odd that way. They are an old established company, but almost like they dont care to be a major player. There have been a few periods and Im guessing it was based on who owned it at the time, but otherwise.. Like during the period we like most, they hired Grover to revamp the line and had some big endorsees, like Stevie Salas and others. But most of the time, its a limited line, like they are trying to stay under the radar. I dont know

Because it's Ola Series I guess. Ola loves black and also white flat finish.
