BMP preamp and magnet swap

So I know there’s not a whole lot of people talking about the blackout module preamp system but hopefully someone can answer my question.
So I’m getting the ahb-11 Gus g fire pickup set and I’m wondering if I swap out the A5 magnet in the bridge pu and put in a ceramic would there be a noticeable change in the tone or will the preamp mask it. If there is a change what should I expect to hear?
What your thoughts on it?

I don't have personal experience with that particular pup, but I would expect that you will hear much more brilliant, piercing highs with the ceramic magnet.

I think "planning" a mag swap before you get them is a huge mistake.

Those coil packs benefit from being fairly low output and getting boosted by the preamp. It's what keeps them so dynamic and punchy yet controllable.

The Gus G set was specifically designed around the BMP-1 and, in my opinion, brings the goods (remember, I'm a big Distortion/Black Winter fan).

Why don't you give them a proper shot before you look at tweaking them? :scratchch

@Masta’ C Im not planning on doing a mag swap anytime soon but after re-reading my post I can definitely see how it seems I wanted to. I’m more curious if doing a mag swap with the preamp system has much of a tone change. Or does the preamp make everything sound basically the same. I ordered a set of covers to hide the big ass G logo before I even put the pickups in so I don’t plan on doing a mag swap. Hopefully these pickups work out for this guitar. I probably should have just gotten rid of this guitar like 10 years ago and bought a different one. It’s a Schecter solo 6 hellraiser that came with emgs that I took out after about a week of owning it. I tried at least a half of dozen passive pickups in this guitar and none of them sounded all that good. I did try a distortion set and they sounded good but they were way way way to tight sounding in the low end. So the guitar been setting in its case for the past 10 years or so. Fast forward to the present and I thought it was time to give this guitar another chance so I decided to try out some active pickups. Hopefully it works out

I don't remember the exact value, but it has been said that something like 50% of the final "tone" comes from the BMP-1. So, mating different pickups to the preamp does make a difference and a mag swap on these coil packs will have some effect, just not as much as in passive pickup designs.

I will say...if the Distortion set was "too tight" in that same guitar, you'll probably prefer the stock A5 in the Gus G over something like an A8 or Ceramic. If you *were* going to mag-swap and the intention was to loosen things up a bit more, I would direct you toward Un-oriented A5 (UOA5) or even A2.However, the stock A5 with the addition of covers may give you everything you're looking for!

@Masts’ C That’s sounds like great news for me. If goes as planned I should have the pickups installed this weekend. I’ll report back how these pickup workout. Thanks for your help.
