Body thickness

I forgot how much thinner an Epi Goth LP Studio is compared to say the Standard/Custom line so how, if at all, will this affect things in regards to my upcoming SD purchases. I guess what I'm really concerned about is will the tone be as full as the fatter cousins or will it be thinner sounding therefore making a significant change in my pickup decision?

Re: Body thickness

Thinner bodies/less wood can make quite a difference...I've got a custom 8/Jazz combo in both my les paul and my brian moore. The brian moore's neck and body are significantly thinner than the LP, and the same pickups don't sound nearly as fat and ballsy in the brian moore as the LP.

Then again there are a few other factors...24.75" scale (LP) versus 25.5" (brian moore), ebony board versus rosewood, maple cap versus maple veneer, TOM versus strat-style hardtail, standard tuning with .010s versus open c tuning with lite top/heavy bottoms.

So, I'd say its definately somthing to consider when purchasing your next set...but its not the only thing that matters.

Your epi Goth is made of different woods than a standard Gibson, that will have a much more pronounced effect ;)

Re: Body thickness

All mahogany as opposed to Mahogany /maple top ... number of individual pieces is unknown to me but likely higher than 3 or 4 ;)
