Bonamassa "Amos" Set: New pickup day

Took the plunge and they arrived today. I've seen Bonamassa live a couple of times and his Amos V sounds spectacular. Distinctly thick even compared with his vintage Les Pauls.

These will go in my 67 reissue flying V when it's back from getting a refinish. I have no doubt diminishing returns will apply and I'd probably have been as happy with Seths but heck...both pups are hand signed by JB and SD! As far as I can tell from the initials on the box, this set (no. 067) was wound by MJ too....correct me if that looks wrong. Neck is 7.5K, bridge is 8.4K.

Very nice! Can't wait to read the review!

I'm sure they'll be plenty unique compared to Seths.

I am a huge Bonamassa fan and love his sound. I’ve been meaning to invest in a set of his signature pickups while I still can.

I was dead-set on a pair of Bonamassas for one of my LPs, until I did an extensive A/B comparison between two LP True Historics, one loaded with Bonamassas and the other with Lindy Fralin Pure PAFs. I kept coming back to the Fralins and that's what I ended-up going with. They just sounded bigger and more 3D to me. I've had them in three different LPs and love them.

Anyways... it's all good and we're talking small variables once one gets into the higher-end pickups. I still love SD pups on the whole and think that the JB/59 set is THE gold standard for stock pickups in good guitars. (Btw... I'm on the verge of picking of a 4th set of Fralins. I've talked to Lindy personally on the phone several times and he's a pleasure to talk to.)
