Personally, I dig using a hollowbody with dirty flats, ... but then, taste differs!!

(very nice, with some fresh shimmering strings on a long-scale 5 too...!)

One of my favourite heavy metal bass tone, must be on "Luciferion - Rebel Souls". Just MEAN. Let me get you a link...
