When I was in a guitar playing slump (we've all been there) I read an article from John Petrucci saying about filing your practice exercises. That way you can pick something to practice everyday, and the mixture will keep you stimulated. So I decided to fill a book with exercises. Here is what it contains:
1. Technique exercises - 1 line of tab to improve a technique. This covers alternate picking, sweep picking, fingerstyle, legato, tapping etc.
2. The 'Behemoth' challenges - After each section (or few sections if they're related) i write 5 lines of tab that go over the techniques previously. No time signatures or note lengths described. This way you play it slightly different everytime, so there are many possibilities from one challenge.
3. The scales - Up to fret 12, I have shown what frets are used on each string for the major scale in every key. I plan to add minor scales, different modes etc. later.
So here's my question:
Can you think of any interesting exercises for the following techniques: sweep picking, fingerstyle, tapping? Any behemoths would also be welcome as well as exercises for any techniques you can think of that havent been mentioned yet.
