Boss GE-7, HOLY $%#^!!!

My brother just went off to college, and since he cant take most of his gear, he's just leaving it with people, he left his Boss GE-7 with me. The first thing i do it make that beautiful hill shaped EQ pattern, then crank the amp. INSANITY. it opened up the tone so well and the guitar tone is so articulate and heavy! BUY ONE

i loved mine back in the day when i used pedals, but grew to hate the hissy noise it added .. was sweet for solo boosting !

Do me a favor, crank the mids on that and tell me how it sounds. I wan't something to boost the mids more than they already are, maybe this is the thing to do it.

I haven't tryed this myself,but I think Keeley does some cool mods to the GE7 pedal...Probably one of the mods is to clean up that hiss....Go on his website and see about it?

isnt that what a hill shape is? im guessing its a big mid boost slope.

To the best of my knowledge Keeley doesn't mod them. It used to be Keven at www.tone-jam.com, but he just recently stopped modding for reasons he gives on his site.

It's to bad too, as his GE-7 Sniper mod is near dead silent when boosting....

Aren't you supposed to take what you don't want down and then boost everything using the volume control? At least especially with digital equilizers?

The GE7 is my secret weapon LOL. GREAT tone shaper for solos... I have a cool eq setting that i use that seems to really bloom with EL34 amps. Retains the heaviness but it still sings, ya know?

i've found that by sticking my GE-7 in my effects loop, it will eliminate all noise problems. and mine isn't modded.

and i agree...it is a fun pedal!

It's not entirely the same mod.

Brian and Kevin are somewhat friends. Brian asked for permission to start doing Kevin's mods, but Kevin asked him not to as he'll still be doing them, but only when he feels like it, at which point he'll Ebay them.

Kevin was selling a kit too, but it only included the simple sh*t, there's some other mods that were part of the Sniper mod that weren't included in the kit.

For anyone that wants to do their own mod, Kevin told me there's a thread on HC where he helps someone design their own if you want to search for it....

I've yet to find a setting on my GE-7 that I really like. I've tried it as an EQ, solo boot (flat), midrange solo boost, etc ... still don't like the sound very much.

I have a GE-7 but just pulled the trigger on a Sniper modded one (pun intended).

I have the GE7 also, I havent really ever played or messed around with it much but I didnt really find it added much to my tone, tho this is a good while back since ive plugged it in so mabye ill try again later..
