1-which one can give more natural distortion and over drive sounds ?
2-which one has more effective compressor ?
3-what do you think about their wah, delay, reverb, chorus effects?
4-which one is more useful at stage ?
5-Is there a tonal difference between Xt Live and Pod ? I heard that Pod's are highly recomended

Re: Boss Gt-8 vs. Line-6 Pod Xt Live

First of all.... Do not buy a PODXT until you have a look at the POD X3 which is coming out next month. GC already has the item up for pre-order. I have an XT fully loaded with all the model packs.... Fun for practice, handy for recording, but I was unable to get a serious live tone out of it. The tube amp feel is not there either, but that is something you can get used to (maybe).

The difference between the XT and the XT Live.....

The XT live is floor pedal unit with the modeler built in. It has a special input for a Line6 Variax modeling guitar and can be used for recording or for live situations.

The POD XT is a desktop bean shaped unit with no foot controls. You have to buy a foot controller separate. Line6 has dedicated pedals and most midi pedals can be used to select patches. The PODXT also has balanced outputs.

The onboard compressor is really good..... The rest of the effects are a matter of taste. I attempted to use the unit in the loop of my Mark IV once for effects only, but the unit killed my tone..... So for effects only.... I would not recommend it. For me.... it is a toy I use for late night practice through headphones. Also handy for traveling light....
