BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

I have this built into my Boss me-50, but it's just too much distortion for my use. I don't think I have ever used it.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

I have it, I don't know if it's screwing up or some cables are, but I haven't used it in a year or more. I like it for leads, but sometimes it just sounds way too crystallized and...fake sounding, for rhythm.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

thanx marvar , lee.i was looking for something to kick up my rythym sound ,guess thats not the answer.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

Try one of Stratdeluxers modified DS-1s. Might fit what you are looking for.

personally i think the me50 version has a much better tone...

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

I had one but replaced it with a G2D Morpheus, which sounds bigger and smoother.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

It was a very popular "heavy" sound from a decade ago. Very distinct and what's great about them is: it don't matter what guitar you plug in, the result always sounds the same: Swarm of bees approaching

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

I have an easy mod somewhere written down, it involves snipping two caps out of the circuit, replacing the two clipping diodes and placing a cap paralel with 'em. It will make it sound like a much smaller swarm of bees that are armed with tiny mesas. :)

It's either that or replacing just about everything on the board, mostly by better quality parts, some for different values for better control.

I could look it up if anybody's interested.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

I've never owned one, but some of the worst tone I've ever heard came out of a guy using one. That isn't an end all experience by any means, but it sure made me wary of it. If you're looking for heavy distortion pedals, there are a lot of better options, IME and IMO.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

not sure, i use a boss ds-1 i havent tried the metal zone, but form what i gather is alot more distortion than my ds-1. Seems like a little too much distortion for what i was going for.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

While it's not really that related, it seems that the MD-2 and EMG-Hzs were destined to work together, I don't care what anybody says about either of them how bad they are, they kick ass together, the tone is so thick it's numbing haha.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

i hate the metalzone...waaaay too trebly and artificial sounding... and even worse, it takes all the nuances of your picking...

The stock version of this pedal is pretty cheesy in my opinion. However the Twilight Zone mod that Robert Keeley does to them is really amazing, turns it into a great distortion pedal.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

I had one! I tried it out with a GE-7, and then I just tried my amp's distortion with a GE-7, and I ended up ditching the MT-2. That's how bad it is. However, you can try the mega distortion. Much better tonaly.

Re: BOSS metal zone MT-2 pedal???

I used one at a gig once where i had to lend someone elses amp/setup and i hated it, it had a lot of bass and gain but it just sounded like ****, no tone to it, i didnt get to play around with it but it sounded pretty scooped too, which made me hate it more, metalzone is not the way to go for kicking up your rhythm sound, it would just ruin it.
