BOSS Pedal Battery Drain

I have BOSS BD-2 Keeley PHAT Mod.

I put new Duracell battery in it. I unplug the jacks after I played a couple of minutes. After a couple of days I plug it and play but it won't work.

Is it possible the pedal drain battery when it's unplugged? (The battery remains in the pedal when unplugged.)

Disconnecting the input and output cables should render the pedal unpowered.

Who performed the modification work? Do you have a receipt for it?

I've had batteries last for years in Boss-style pedals when they are unplugged. Definitely an issue. Was it fully unplugged? Like not pull the jack out a bit to disconnect the battery, but fully unplugged and removed?

1) Pedal was most probably modded by Keeley Pedals. It has box with keeley sticker. Pedal has Keeley sticker behind it.

2) Fully unplugged.

3) I bought it from "Reverb.com" (Internationally shipped) I gave positive feedback.

A local seller sells Keeley modded BOSS DS-1. He says you should remove battery when you don't use. I don't know if he has knowledge about it or not.

The input is the switching jack, no need to unplug the output.

But yes, while power supplies make life easier, it shouldn't be eating batteries like that, but I would think it something is shorting out somewhere it wouldn't work, or would at least sound "wrong". Really hard to tell without being able to see it and look at it closely.

Try another new battery, maybe Energizer even, i wonder if the battery is getting shorted when the cables are unplugged, thats one way it would drain itself. Although, getting a 1spot power supply might be cheaper than buying new batteries often.

Looks like before buying next stompbox I need to buy a power supply.
