how can i set my Boss Super Overdrive to obtain a very good punk rock sound???

i've an hibryd tele with two SH-8 Invader and Tune-o-matic bridge.

Boost your amps overdrive/distortion channel with the Boss.
Set the Level at max, drive at min and tone to taste.
Works best with tube amps but I've got ok results with SS amps too.

+1, but I used to set mine up where the Level and Drive knob lines were parallel, and the tone pointed at the T in tone.

The Boss Super Overdrive is mellow compared to the tons of other pedals out there. This is because it was first released in the late 1970's, and the crunch/thrash factor that is so common these days simply did not exist at the time. Mine is used with a tube amp for a Black Sabbath/Stoner tones. I suppose you coud max the knobs, and back it off to point that is music to your ears. I would not throw extra money at this peddle (like an eq peddle, different pickups, speakers) to MAKE it work. This peddle is very good for what it was designed to do. For thrashier tones, you may want to get a different pedal, if all else fails. I wish you the best!

You might want to check out a DS-1 or a ProCo Rat for punk. There's tons of distortion pedals out there, DS-1 comes to mind the most when talking about punk though.

I had no problem getting a punk rock grind with a Boss Overdrive, but the amp I was using helped. I had the level at noon, the drive anywhere from 2 o clock to max, and the tone at 9 o clock. This ran into a 1978 Hiwatt DR 504, which was maxed on the preamp, and generally played very loud through a 4x12 cab loaded with a mix of oddball speakers. I also had an Invader pup, although sometime I used a DM X2N, or a SD Live Wire pup, I think the Live Wire was a hot version. I can assure you that it rocked.

Leftover Crack use DS-1s, and they're only $40 new. Get one of those and have a great old time.
