Bought 2 59 Neck pickups, Help!

Hey I bought 2 59 neck pickups and I wanted to get the bridge but they told me it wasn't that much of a difference. Now I have 2 59 necks installed in my Epi LP Standard, I was wondering if there was anything I could do to give the bridge pickup more gain or atleast more of an emphasis on the bass so it can sound more like a bridge pickup?

Only thing I can think of would be move the bridge pickup closer to the strings, or play with the screw slugs a bit.

I'd say your best bet would be put one up for trade in the Trading Post for a bridge model. The bridges typically have higher output to accomodate for the natural lower output of the guitar closer to the bridge.

They fibbed. :saeek: Did you buy it new with a warranty and 21 day exchange? If so, I'd exchange one for a bridge 59 if possible. Lew

+1 to what lew said ... you got jobbed and they should make it right ...

you could lower the neck pup a bit and raise the bridge pup to get a better balance, but you shouldnt have to ...

good luck

I suggest you go somewhere else to buy your gear, these dolts obvious have know clue about pickups, they just straight up lied, or just don't care about their cutomers. Either way, why take another chance with these hacks. Send it back to Duncan and get a new bridge.

Would replacing the magnets yield any results? All I want is to get more output from my pup.

Changing the magnet would change the entire sound of the pickup. I think the output has more to do with coil windings between bridge and neck pickups. What about the store's return policy?

There is a very learned LP dude on the Les Paul Forum who uses 2 Antiquity Neck Humbuckers in his vintage 50s Lesters. He adjusts the bridge to get the sound he wants and then sets it to the middle position and tweaks the neck and adjusts the bridge polepieces to taste. Lastly, he tweaks the polepieces of the neck pickup. Just a thought and it may sound sound right for you too.

Again... try to trade the pickup... The 59 on the bridge it is way too treble for my tastes. It is not a matter of output, it is a matter of tone.

Whoever sold you the Pickups either lied intentionally or can´t /won´t read even the simplest literature to please his customers because he´s got dollar signs in his eyes.

(assuming they´re new) Take the bridge pup back, and have it exchanged for a bridge model. If the Store refuses to do so, call up SD customer service send it to SD directly (and complain about the store while you´re at it) ;)

If they were used, drop a thread in the trading post, I´m sure someone here has a 59b and needs a 59n ;)
