Not complaining as ive had manyJapan guitars for 40 years.
My point is its taken 20 years for the epiphone brand to bloat the market with $300 guitars selling for $1200.
Whatcha gonna do when epi-mania runs on you ?

Not sure bout all that but i can tell you 40's somethings and younger have no idea what the value or quality of 80's & 90's made in Japan guitars are worth based on my dealings with the youngsters.

The guitar i got is a Fujigen made SG and in very good condition.
Jury is still out on the pickups as im pretty picky on pups.

looks like a great guitar for that price!

Thats a big 10-4.
Ive been looking for the right SG for the right price for quite a while.
Gotta say FB & Reverb / Ebay algorythms make it very difficult to get a fair market price as almost every item they feed you is from the top down price wise.
The worst thing you can do is use their filters and select exactly what you want cuz you're guaranted HOURS of scrolling thru the BS.

Other than the metric component sizes that make it slightly more difficult to upgrade parts, I prefer MIJ guitars from the 90s and 00s.

Out of curiosity, why is Dean successfully sued by Gibson, but American guitars copied by Japanese brands for the Japanese domestic market are left alone?

Does Gibson not have a Japanese subsidiary like Fender does?

Orville brand was licensed by Gibson for the Japan market.

I'm debating starting to buy guitars directly from Japan on EBay and Reverb. They just have more stuff I want for a better price, specifically pointy body shapes.

That said shipping is often several hundred dollars, but in my experience sellers tend to cap what they charge to avoid import fees.

I'm interested to see how it goes. If it's easy I may skip directly to Japanese sellers.

what was in there originally and what did you put in?

Some Orvilles came with Gibson pups. All original guitar here. 500K pots. 1997 Fujigen made.
Ive had 2 other Fujigen Orvilles they are excellent.
Im not sure which model Gibson pickups i have but they're wax potted and sound great.
Thats all i care about.
