bought a new guitar

An SG faded in worn cherry. I bought it from Sweetwater because they have a good reputation and they set up and inspect their guitars, and because there are no Gibson dealers near me at all.

I thought that you didn't really like gibbys.

I dont, but I have a soft spot for weird guitars, or brands that made weird guitars. Harmony, Silvertone, Tokai, Teisco, ect

They might well suck, but you can buy some SDs to cure that. Nice guitar though. Really nice!

looks good man...Sweetwater is a pretty good place, i've been there a couple times!

that's a fine looking SG, i like the grain in it alot!!!

I could be wrong but I believe the faded's come with the same 490R/498T combo as the current Standard's. If so, it's a combo I like in the SG, others seem to hate it.

Fadeds have a pair of 490s, not the 498T in the bridge. which I actually think is better as the mid spike of the 498T can be a bit too much depending on the individual guitar.

If a particular SG has a good bottom end/low mids (naturally), the 490 T sounds pretty good..otherwise I could see wanting something a bit fatter/thicker.
