i see there are a lot of guys out there who will build you a BF DR from a kit from weber or mojo -- anybody have any experience with any of them? :smokin:

Re: boutique deluxe reverb

I wouldn't call a kit amp that some guy built for you a boutique amp but there are a lot of DIYers out there that might be willing to build you a DR...

If I were looking for a DR amp that was built to better that reissue Fender specs I would look into an Allen Accomplice, that amp is only a single channel and does not have the tremolo but they are killer amps and offer several things that a DR doesn't.

There are also several guys out there just building clones of Deluxe Reverbs...

SDG Vintage offers a Princeton reverb, Vibroverb and a Super Reverb and will do a Delxe reverb if you wanted him to. All that said, if you didn't want to go the Allen route and wanted a straight up Deluxe reverb I would judt buy an early SF DR and put a little cash into it and you'd be VERY happy with it.

Re: boutique deluxe reverb

To me, a true boutique amp would be tuned and tweaked just a little after it's all put together. Kind of like how you'd tune your guitar with a tuner and then try some chords and adjust the tuning by ear a little until it's just right. I know that's how my brother Bruce does it when he builds an amp...and how Bruce's friend Ken Fischer does it. And how I'd do it. Lew

perhaps i misspoke in using the term "boutique." i really meant to ask if anyone has experience with any of the guys who build and sell amps from kits...?

Re: boutique deluxe reverb

There's a lot of guys out there that will build you one. The two channel blackface FEnders take a little patience to build in that they can be rather noisy and it can take a while to get that all sorted out. I've got an amp I've built, but not completely finished yet that I'm calling a Brenna. It's basically the reverb side of an old fender amp without the tremolo, but witha deep switch, a bright switch and a boost that is footswitchable.

I built an amp for Evan called the Evan-Rude. It's got the normal blackface reverb channel (Mudslide) on one side and the other non-reverb channel was modded to tweed specs (Twister). It's kinda the best of both worlds I guess. It's funny, I loved the mudslide channel, Evan loved the Twister channel.
