Boutique pedals...

Well guys i like my amp. But I just want to see what hi-end pedals are out there.


Looking for a really great all-purpose type thing and Don't know where to start looking

I'm more interested in floor pedals than rack preamps but if you know somethign that just NEEDS to be considered, let me know.

I'm also done with digitally processed distortion, probably doesn't need to be mentioned but thought I would say it anyways.

Not looking for multi-effects, just a really great pedal

What are you looking for? Do you have some specific tone in mind or are you looking to broaden your rig's sonic horizons?

He likes his amp... Hey sounds like we can reccomend a Tim/Timmy.

What amp does it happen to be anyways? I know the Hotcake works really well with a Vox AC like thing.

Solid Gold Soundlabs from Montreal..Greg, the company owner will go step by step in the build of your pedal with you to make sure it's exact to your specifications, and he does tremendous work..Highly recommended!

Go to tonefactor.com and look around the selection. Lots of booteek stuff there.Their own line of pedals are very cool and reasonably priced too.

It doesn't have to be. I dont give a rats back end if it's "boutique" or not. I just wanted people to know that it doesn't have to be limited to a $40 stomp box.

Let me be more specific.



My amp is the mg100hdfx which SHOULD show up in my signature


I like it for totally clean sounds and hi-gain riffs, rhythms, and solos when using an overdrive (I have the sd-1 and tubulator).


What I think is lacking in the amp is a good mild crunch or low-gain rhythm sound.

The "Overdrive-1" is supposed to cover this, but ..eh. I think it gets the job done but is not very pleasant

It also has a "crunch" option on the clean channel but in my opinion this almost gets into mesa hi-gain crunch territory as far as the gain goes.



I've played around with so many pedals I just want something that really really works for mild to very crunch rhythms and it would be nice if it could be flexible enough to do everything from soft to screaming.


Again, I could care less what brand or how popular or attractive it is, just looking something really good, like something I could make my money back on if I dont like it.



Also, could anyone discuss their personal experiences?

Buy a better amp instead!

er...let me get even more specific.

Not changing the amp. I really like most of the stuff it does. I like the clean tone, I like the hi-gain tone, I like the effects (well, at least the delay and reverb are good), and I like the emulated Line-Out.

Sooo, I'm not interested in paying out the wazoo for a new amp when this is basicly 99% of everything I want in an amp.

$200 cap on this I guess, but obviously less will be great


Also, know that the mild crunch /overdrive is what I perform with most often so thats why I was think I might as well just get something really wonderful in order to do it.

oh really?


Wow...Used to own one actually. hahah. but I never even tried it as a stand alone pedal, always as a boost....it was given to me and I did not give it an honest try. Sold it before I even got used to it. That was a year or two ago, I dont even remember how it sounds really.

+1 on all mentioned above, I always like going to www.pedalgeek.com they always have a good number of boutique and non-boutique pedals and they have sound clips for most of the pedals they sell....check it out.
