Breed Vs Tone zone

Heard the breeds are being discontinued and debated on whether or not to invest in a pair. Was curious how it compares to a tone zone because I already have one lying around along with an air norton and wondered what the differences are?

Re: Breed Vs Tone zone

I noticed recently they were off the dimarzio website already. Probably plenty still at retailers though.

Good question. I'd like to hear some opinions too.

Re: Breed Vs Tone zone

Breed. It's a lot more 3D sounding. It's just killer all around. Crazy harmonics. Doesn't get muddy even in high gain sitautions. The Tone Zone sounds congested to me. I can't stand the TZ.

Re: Breed Vs Tone zone

The Breed is has tight lows, big midrange, and smooth highs with great harmonics. It's a very polite pickup for lack of a better word, but it can still rock. The TZ has fatter, looser lows and a little more sizzle on top, but the midrange is similar.

Re: Breed Vs Tone zone

I have the Breed, not the TZ. I think the Breed has a nice thick sound that doesnt get muddy. I also have the Norton, 2 different guitars, but the Norton is ever so SLIGHTLY more congested than the Breed. YMMV
