Re: BreedLove Acoustics?

I thought BreedLove acoustics were really expensive? I've heard they sound incredible though : )

Re: BreedLove Acoustics?

I've played Breedloves @ Mandolin Bothers; they're great. They have a tight waist, which is great for short people like me! I don't have the reach for a Dreadnaught or similar guitar (even 00's are tough).

I've never seen a Breedlove less than $2k, tho. Are they having guitars built in the Far East now, like Taylor?

They are expensive! Handmade guitars.

You might do better looking for a used Larivee or Taylor. I'd look for a Taylor...I think they tend to sound better.

But for $700, go USED to get the most for your money.

I'm a big fan of pre-Fender Guilds. You can usually get them for around the $700 mark. I'm not a huge Taylor fan as I find them a little bright and I hate the v-shape neck.

Neither of my Taylors have a V shaped neck. You might be thinking of Martin...especially the vintage reissues like the HD-28. Lew

I agree with the used comment, not the Taylor comment. A LOT of guitarists love 'em, but I find them to be boomy. I prefer Tippin (which I own), Santa Cruz, OLD Martin, or Collins ... believe it or not, the Rainsongs sound amazing, and they're not even made of wood!!

Breedlove and Taylors are both expensive, and bright. The way I have explained them is they are good acoustics for electric guitar players. I find the thin necks and low action difficult to deal with. I prefer Martin style guitars. Someone hear had mention pre Fender guilds. I agree.... Guilds are one of the best value guitars you can buy. I have had a Guild for over 25 years. It is Rock solid. Martin, Guild. good choice. The all Mahogony Martins (D, and O size) are available for about the same money you are looking to spend!! Go play a few and see what you think!!

You're not going to find a used Collings (not Collins), OLD Martin or Santa Cruz for anything like $700! :smack: But maybe a mahoganyTaylor or Larivee. Taylors are not boomy as a rule...mine sure are not. They tend to be beautiful playing, beautifully balanced guitars that, I think, give a player the most for his/her money of any professional acoustic guitar out there. Tho for $700, a guy will be lucky to find even a used Taylor. I'd love a OM size Collings tho... :cool3:

Re: BreedLove Acoustics?

Lew, I was referring more to the upper portion of the neck where it transitions to the body. Around the 12th fret or so (can't remember exactly) the neck transitions into a V, and that bugs the sh*t outta me.

Re: BreedLove Acoustics?

Breedlove are terrific guitars, I still think Tacoma is better, but Breedlove guitars with rosewood backs are awesome
