Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

Anyone played one??

I reviewed the previous threads on the Brian Moore brand.......good guitars all around it would seem.

What's with the funky input jack???

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

I think the Brian Moores tend to be under-rated. IIRC the input jack is part of the ergonomic design, assuming that you're going wireless and want a short cable going to your strap... Personally, I think it's pretty cool anyway. The headstock design is one of my favorites.

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

I got one...
<-----look.
Mine was custom made artist endorsement, so the standard models are a little different. The funky jack is really cool, it keeps the cord out of the way, and it doesn't stick into your ribs either. I have more info about it on my website (below) and feel free to ask questions.

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

the input jack is a great location...i bring mine in and pinch the cord with the strap....it's never come unplugged and it's recessed and you never know it's there...i have the i1 and it is as well made and playable as any guitar i have ever picked up...and supposedly the US made ones are somehow even better... :smack: i can't even imagine how...!? the tone and playability is a cross between a strat and a paul and the sustain is great! i had never even considered a moore until the day i bought mine, because they were so far out of my price range...but supposedly mine has a finish flaw on it that no one can find...and i mean no one...so i got a good deal on it! they really do build a great product...the colors are great the headstock is awesome...i'm really happy with mine!

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

i love my Brian Moore Guitars i88.13 ... i can only imagine the custom shop models being that much more AMAZING!! ... and as a company, they are just absolutely spectacular to work with ... their customer service is A+++ top notch ... they treated me like a king and i bought one of the least expensive models they make ... i can only imagine how great they'd be to work with if i was buying a $$$ model ...

and the input jack location RULES

cheers

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

IMO brian moore is one of the best guitar manufacturers in the market today.
my guitar teacher has a custom shop MC w/ graphite neck which is an absolute killer guitar.
best legato demanding guitar i have ever played :D
if you can find one for a good price, jump on it.

The MC/1 is a great guitar, from what I remember- but impossible to find these days. They only make a few a year, at about $8k..the neck and back are 1 piece graphite/carbon fiber, and used, I have seen them go for $4-5k. Insane prices, but I love the idea of different approaches to instrument building.
I will say the RMC piezos in mine not only track my guitar synth great, but sound like an awesome acoustic through a PA system.

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

WOW......thanks guys.

If all goes as it seems, I may be stumbling upon one in metallic black.

Hey Mincer, that's a nice website you have. If I was to buy any 2 CDs, which 2 would you recommend??? I like everything but rap....and I'm guessing I'm safe there!!!

BTW don't you also have a Mesa Blue Angel? I've got a 4x10...........

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

Oh....I forgot 1 thing. What do these play like, more of a strat feel to the neck & body or more like an Ibanez???

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

the neck shape on my i88.13 feels very very similar to the neck on my ibanez 540s .. only difference is that the BMG has MOUNTAINOUSLY high frets

hope this helps

Thanks for the kind words! I do have soundclips, and it depends on what you are looking for...the 2 I'd recommend are
Hazard Factor: Primordiance
Future Perfect: Meanwhile

These both have the most 'standard' guitar playing I guess, but a lot of guitar synth and looping on both. THe Future Perfect one has female vocals and the Hazard one is trippy improvisations.

Yeah, I have a 1x12 Blue Angel, which I love. Darker than a deluxe or Twin, it is really great with a Tube Screamer. With my band however, I use a Roland preamp into the PA- it is easier to mix with the synth and piezo (acoustic) sound from the guitar.

As far as the feel, it is more like an Ibanez with a neck that isnt as wide. More like a shallow C than a D or U. I really like it, although mine doesn't have the tall frets that was mentioned. Mine seem pretty normal.

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

Thanks Mincer....I'll have to take some time flipping thru the clips.

Well, it seemed a guy wanted to trade me his BM for my strat w/EMGs & a little cash....but a local guy sniped me!

Oh well...next time.

In the mean time, I'll have to see if I can find someone locally that carries them & try 'em out for myself!!!!

Thanks again guys!!!

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

wher eare you in S Florida? I Was supposed to perform at clinics in Ft Lauderdale and Boca for Brian Moore Guitars, but I think they fell through..check out the websites for the dealer locations. We just have 1 on this coast near tampa, in Seminole, just north of St Pete.

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

I'm in West Palm Beach.....the closest one to me is in Coral Springs, which is just south of Boca; about 30-45mins from me.

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

Yeah that is the one that fell through for me at the beginning of December- I will have to get over there to do a clinic soon!

I have a C-55, its by far my fav guitar. The jack position is a great thing..it is tucked up high on the guitar and is out of the way.

The position of the strap pins is unique and makes the guitar sit very nicely against the body. The Jack positioning works well with the bodyshape and pin positions

Re: Brian Moore Custom Shop C55.....

Is that it in your avatar?

VERY NICE!!!

I guess this one fell thru but once I play one, I might look into getting another...they look & seem like a well thought out tweak of the original design.

The BASF of guitars: "We didn't make the Strat or LP...we made the Strat & LP better!"........... :beerchug:

I knew that avatar looked similar to something I have seen :)
I am happy you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
