Bridge Buzz

Hey guys, I recently got a guitar that I absolutely LOVE but it's a semi-lower end Fender, JA90. It's made in Indonesia, which means Cort factory. Everything about it is fine really but I have a buzzing/rattle on the B and G strings. It seems to come from the bridge. It's a Tunematic type which Fender calls "Adjusto-Matic". I have no idea if the bridge is quality of not, I think I read somewhere that it's made by Gotoh. They usually make good stuff, but I can't confirm until I get the strings off, the logo should be on the bottom.

Now normally I would replace the thing outright with a Tonepros except that there is a 9.5" radius on the fingerboard. I am pretty sure (from visual inspection) that the bridge is also. The vast majority of TOM's are 12" for Gibsons.

What would you guys would do in this case to get rid of the buzz?

Thanks very much!

Re: Bridge Buzz

Have you taken a look at the neck to see how much bow is in it ? If there's too much, that could be the culprit . Also , check the bridge height and the intonation on the guitar as well before you think about replacing the bridge. Good luck.

Re: Bridge Buzz

I finally got the strings off and it's definitely coming form the bridge. There's tons of slop in the posts themselves (inserts) and the how the bridge sits on them. Pretty sad really. I'm going to replace one way or another!

Re: Bridge Buzz

Wrap a turn and a half of PTFE tape around the posts then refit the bridge. (Fender Jaguar owner's trick.)
