bridge humbucker for alder tele w/ maple neck/fretboard?

I've decided to resurrect my old Highway 1 tele body (which has been chiseled out, EVH frankenstrat-style in the bridge for an angled humbucker and a chopped tele bridgeplate) and I need a beefier bridge humbucker.

It currently has an old MJ wound 59N pickup with a roughcast UOA5 in the bridge. What would be a good pickup with medium output and more low end and mids? The highs on the 59N are fine-- they allow the guitar to keep quite a bit of the tele sound, but I need more low end, a little more output and some more mids. But something that still sounds clean on the clean setting of my amp. The 59N is really good for that.

This guitar has a maple neck and fretboard and brass barrel saddles.

So what say ye, SDUGF? What would work best?

On the radar are:
-Whole Lotta Humbucker (bridge)
-Super Distortion (need to track down an older, long-legged version)
-maybe a 59/Custom Hybrid?
-maybe a straight Custom SH-5 with a 250K pot?

As much as I like the JB mid spike, there are times that it gets on my nerves. It's both its greatest strength and it's Achilles heel. I may have to investigate it-- I'll check the link out later today.

thanks dominus!
