Bridge Humbucker for Mohogany / Mohogany

Years ago someone stuck a Jackson J-80C in the bridge position of my old Vantage VLP-500. (Matsumoku metric Les Paul). I'm looking for a good recommendation for a better replacement bridge pick up. I play mostly classic rock, hard rock, blues, and country stuff through small Fender Combo Amps; Super Champ XD, Old Silverface Vibro Champ with a few pedals in front.
I'm concerned that the Mohogany might be on the darker side of tone so I don't want to go darker but I don't want to go too bright until I use my coil splitter.
Here's the guitar details;
Vantage Guitar. Les Paul style. (make = Matsumoku)

VPL-500 Tobacco Brown Burst (circa 1980)
Fretboard = Rosewood
Neck wood = mahogany bolt on
Body = Mahogany back and sides.
Arched birch top. (very small cavity between neck and bridge pick ups)
Metric Bridge and Tail Piece
Tone Pots = M500k 02P
Volume Pots = M500k 03P
Neck Pick Up = MMK 45 (Matsumoku) but not bad sounding.
Bridge Pick Up = Jackson J-80C. (probably intended for a middle position of a 3 humbucker Jackson make guitar)
String space at bridge = 1 & 15/16 inch which I believe is standard/regular not F spacing.

Please offer some ideas

Re: Bridge Humbucker for Mohogany / Mohogany

Maybe a 59 bridge and a Pearly Gates neck. I haven't tried them but people are really liking the Whole Lotta Humbucker set.

Whl, 59, 59/custom hybrid, screamin demon, custom 5. Any of those rule for those kinds of music, my personal favorite is the hybrid.

Re: Bridge Humbucker for Mohogany / Mohogany

a 59 would be cool if you want lower (vintage) output, if you're looking for higher output, Id go with a Custom 5 (SH-14). I would suggest a JB, but I think it would be too hot for what your looking for.

-if you end up deciding on the Custom 5, I've got a "like new" one I'm looking to sell

What amp and tuning?

I agree with the Whole Lotta Humbucker, 59/Custom, and 59 for your bridge

The 59/custom will be great in mahagony. Its a naturally brighter PU so it will balance well for you.

Look into the Whole Lotta Humbucker. Its fantastic. And very appropriate for what you want

59/Custom hybrid...super versatile for those styles

Re: Bridge Humbucker for Mohogany / Mohogany

I second the 59/Custom. After four different Bridge pups in my Epi LP that one is staying. I'm all about classic rock, blues-rock, and power country and that will get you there.

(Full disclosure: swapped A5 mag for UOA5=better.)

59/custom is good suggestion. So is the sh-5 custom. both will work great

spot on, there are any number of ways to cover those tones. Knowing the output of the neck pickup might help get a better match too.

Re: Bridge Humbucker for Mohogany / Mohogany

In my all hog LP I have a Brobucker in the bridge and '59 A4 in the neck, it rocks!

Re: Bridge Humbucker for Mohogany / Mohogany

I would recommend either the 59 or pearly gates.

Re: Bridge Humbucker for Mohogany / Mohogany

59
Whole Lotta Humbucker
or Custom if you need more Rock
not Custom5 or CustomHybrid

Re: Bridge Humbucker for Mohogany / Mohogany

I have an Ibanez LP which sounds like it's made like yours ( mohagany body with birch top) and the Duncan Custom 5 sounds awesome in the bridge. It does Classic rock perfectly.
