Bridge humbucker...

Hey folks!

I have a strat-like guitar with a semi-chambered mahogany body, 24.75" scale, maple bolt-on neck and rosewood board. It has a H/H configuration, and i'm looking at replacing the bridge pup.

For moderately heavy rock (think Isis, Cult of Luna, Tool, Failure) what your recommendations be? I'm thinking i'll go PG in the neck, not sure on the bridge. I was thinking JB or Custom maybe, i don't think i'm gonna go active on this one.

Big fan of those bands, for cult of luna type tones I like to go almost vintage with it, they really seem to have that type of vibe, either a 59 or a custom 5. For more heavily distorted stuff I liked to JB I had in a les paul, got that tool tone perfect where it's bright, but still thick and heavy. Either way, with the guitar and woods you chose, any of those will get you pretty close, I would just stay away from a super high output pickup (most of those guys use low to moderate output pickups) and you should be fine.

Thanks man! Yeah i think you'e right, i'm thinking either '59 or Custom 5. I have an Orange Rockerverb so getting some heavy tones amp-wise isn't a problem, and these both look like good options.

I jam around with alot of Isis and if you drop tune, I'd try the Custom 5.
They use Diamond Nitrox Heads (Pretty sure) and some strange UNK guitars.
Some of the UNKS are fitted with Single Coils under humbucker covers, and the others have regular humbuckers. Isis tunes to B.
anyway, The Custom 5 still sounds sort of vintage in it's voicing, but its hot and has plenty of balls that sop up the looser strings of lower tunings.

Last time I checked they used VHT and mesa boogie (v-twin I think) and I've seen them using those aluminum EGC (electric guitar company) guitars
