Bridge pickup for a Jackson basswood 7 string project??? (help)

Hey guys, so Im currently modding a used Jackson JS-22 DKA-7 I bought. The guitar by itself is quite good to be honest, but the stock pickups are terrible and they have to go. This is my first 7 string, and I won't lie, I'm trying to get into the whole progressive metal/djent movement. I've always been more into playing 80's metal, shred guitar (Jason Becker to be precise), Guns N Roses, Pantera, Carcass and some old tech death bands, but like I said before, I want to learn how to play the whole progressive metal/djent thing (Periphery, Monuments, Meshuggah, Sikth etc).

I'm looking for a versatile set of pickups (won't use the guitar for metal music only), with tight bass, easy harmonics, good string definition and dynamics . I've pretty much set my mind on the SD Sentient for the neck. This guy i know is selling many of his gear and he has these used 7 string pickups, I want to know if you could help me choose one based on your experiences and considering the tones I'm going for.

1) SD NAZGUL 7
2) SD PEGASUS 7
3) SD CUSTOM SH-5 7
4) SD JB 7

I would appreciate your input.

P.S.

My guitar has two "active mount" kinda soap bar looking passive stock Jackson pickups, If I want to install any of those passive mount SD pickups I just mentioned, do I have to route the body for them to fit???

According to the description of your playing, I would go with the pegasus, I think it is more versatile than the nazgul and has a more balanced output when paired with a Sentient. About the routing, I really don't really have a clue, since I've never worked with active mounts :P

For versatility? I'd go with Pegasus too, then the Custom. The others are too specialized for my ears.

Yep, Pegasus for sure. Followed by Custom (another solid choice), then Nazgul, then JB

You may have to modify the existing routs to go from soapbar active style housings to passive mounts and you will also have a bit of a gap at the edges:

I thought you could get the Pegasus/Sentient set in a soap bar mount.

In the US, the active soapbar-style mount is about $36 more than the normal versions.

for the bands you mentioned, and for the versatility you want, and for the description you provided ("tight bass, easy harmonics, good string definition and dynamics"), I'd be inclined to suggest the DiMarzio Titan 7... or the Illuminator 7, if you want a slightly more open feel.
