alright, im starting to no really "dig" the super distortion in my charvel model 1 so im thinking of taking it out and putting it in a later guitar in the future or just selling it. since this guitar has the whole 80's feel(1 pickup, 1 volume knob, and strat body) i want something that can get that sound. i want good clean sound too, whihc is what the super distortion lacks. i dont wnat it to be overly bright because it has one tone pot and it's pretty bright by it self.
i was thinking of the screamin demon so i can get that 80's tone but also have a nice clean paf tone. and are there any other pickups you'd recommend for the tone im after?

Well, a JB..but watch the Brightness. How about a 59B ???? Always a GREAT choice, in my opinion ....:)

Re: bridge pickup for more 80's style rock?

you know, i was thinking of the 59 too. i have a 59 trembucker just sitting around in my room. i may try that :D

but otherwise, what else would be good?
would the screamin demon be a good choice?

On a super strat, you can go with a 59, a JB will work, an Alnico II Pro, or a Screamin' Demon ...

the JB is so 80's toned that it should be called the 80's shred pup
:)
i had one briefly and like it but it had too much upper mids for me

Re: bridge pickup for more 80's style rock?

ok, so JB seems to be it. but wont it be too bright and harsh in that guitar? the guitar is a poplar or alder body with maple/maple neck, 1 bridge humbucker, vintage trem and 1 volume knob. would the jb or 59 be too bright for this?

bump

would it be smart to just go with the 59? i already have a 59 trembucker just sitting around, so i may go with that.

The Custom is allways a good choice for METAL, just ask Zerb.

i know that, i ahve one in my other charvel but im afraid it may be too bright in this particular guitar.

Re: bridge pickup for more 80's style rock?

The Screamin Demon would be a good choice but beware- output on that pup isn't anywhere near that of the Distortion pup. Like a lot of players, Lynch likes to manipulate his tone from the amp. The Custom or JB would give your Charvel that coveted 80's metal tone. Good Luck!
