Bridge Pickup help? alder strat / metal

Hey Gang,
Here's where I need some help.. I've got an alder strat, with a maple neck and pau ferro fretboard. I play mostly metal. I've gone through the Custom, Custom 5, Distortion, JB, and a Screamin Demon.

My two favorites so far are the Custom 5 and the JB. (I guess I must like Alnico 5 magnets.) I like the presence and clarity of the JB. I also like the amount of output. However, the JB could stand to be just a little fuller in the lower mids, I think.

The Custom 5 has a bit too much output (a little too saturated) and a percived shift moving the mids lower than a JB. I'm not sure I like where the mids sit (or don't sit) on this pickup.... Still trying to figure that out.

I guess what I'd like is something with the lower output and good clarity of the JB, but just a little bit thicker in the lower mids.

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

That sounds like the Distortion which is a ceramic version of the JB. The Custom 5 is like a 59 on steroids. The Jazz is a really clear pickup that stays warm under distortion and it's an A5 pickup.

I have a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge of my alder-bodied guitar and it does just what you're asking for. I've tried JB's (too shrill) and PATB1's (sounded pretty good, but not as lively as the PATB1 sounds in other woods for some reason) in that position and the Tone Zone sounds the best.
