Bridge/String Grounding Help?!?!?!?

Hey I have a strat that I built and I just rewired my les paul.

Now for some reason when I play, each time I touch the bridge or strings on either guitar, there is an audible hum decrease. And because of this, there is static buildup on the pickguard of each guitar and it makes noises when i touch it while i play. This is killing me!!!!

I DO have a wire soldered on each guitar from the bridge to pot ground though! I don't know how else or better to ground the bridge.

I don't know what this problem is...could it be the solder I'm using?...everything else works fine....I'm just using radioshack brand rosin core.

I know I'm doing something wrong and it isn't mechanical or w/e cause its happening on both guitars I've worked on. And its not my amp or anything else, my other guitars I haven't done soldering on don't hum like this.

Any ideas?!?! I'm dyin over here.

The pickup height isn't to too close to the strings is it?
I had the same problem with my strat. i re soldered everything and its fine. One of the wires could be touching another or something. Im sure its not to big of a problem, just check it over and maybe re-solder .

Re: Bridge/String Grounding Help?!?!?!?

Your problem isn't that ground isn't connected. Your problem is that ground is connected to hot somewhere (touching the pickguard makes noise).

Photos?

Ah, the old grounding thing. We'[ve all done this ourselves.

Everything electrical has to be interconnected into one big ground loop: PU's, pots, switch, & jack. Tying into the bridge ground wire doesn't guarantee that everything is in the ground loop.

Take your time, look at every electrical part, and verify the grounds all link back to the briidge wire. You'll find the one you missed.

Re: Bridge/String Grounding Help?!?!?!?

Iv done countless pickup changes and total guitar gutting, yet I have 1 guitar, my beloved and most hated Epi LP Goth, that I have wired rewired and changed out pups 4 or 5 times....ever since my original pup change it has the phantom hum (quiets when touching the strings or bridge) ...I simply learn to live with it on this guitar, and its now 2nd natrue to always keep 1 hand on the bridge or strings......If I ever play this guitar in the rain I know for certain it will Kill me.....always have a backup ;)
