i have a bright/thin sounding swamp ash tele routed hh. fat korina neck, rw board. three barrel through body bridge. i have a wlh neck i plan on using but what to use in the bridge? its got three controls so itll either be mv, t, t or v, v, mt. either way ill be splitting the pups with the pp tone pot. i have a bunch of good bridge pup options layin around but im thinking jb or cc. i have plenty of bar magnets so swapping is always an option too. give me your thoughts...

thats part of my thinking. i was also thinking a2 in the jb like the concept set but worried the a2 might not work in this body as well

I have to say it's very jarring that you of all people are asking for a pup recommendation. Nonetheless, an A2 JB sounds cool.

Bright and thin screams dimarzio to me.

I have an rg921 that is bright and thin. I installed a set of breeds in it. It cured both issues.

Tonezone / air norton work too

So does norton

So does the dominion set (they are supposed to be breeds with more treble and bass).

They have a bunch of others that will work too. Take a look.

You can sort by power, name, bass, mids, treble, etc.

I'm going to sound like a broken record . . . Perpetual Burn.

I'll lend you one if you want to try before you buy. (I haven't forgotten that I have your Jazz bridge.)

im pretty set on the wlh neck, just trying to figure out a bridge pup. if theres a dimarzio that would match the wlh well, id be willing to investigate it. the dominion 7/9/6 (b/m/t) looks like it has a ton of mids but doesnt look like it has more treble or bass than the breed 8/9/6.5

never hurts to get other peoples opinions. if there wasnt a forum to ask, id throw the whl & jb in with 500k volume neck, 250k volume bridge, 500k master tone. but there is a forum, so why not ask and see what people say

i still have your tele bridge pup too! all good.

as for the pb... im worried the 12k pb will be too bright and thin here, unfounded worry? thats part of the reason im thinking at least the cc (or at least that wind, maybe uoa5) or jb

In my experience, that sort of Tele will sound awesome with the JB2...so pull the magnet from thew CC, and try the JB2. If that doesn't work, try the CC next. If THAT doesn't work....PAF Pro

Never tried a JB2, so my plan would have been CC with maybe a 250k volume pot in a VVT setup

i dont have to pull anything. i have a3, a2, a4, a5, c8, & a8 polished bars, plus some rc long and short a5, rc a2, uoa5 and who knows what else laying around. paf pro is a hard no. too thin and bright, even with 250k.

This is all so totally subjective . . . depends on the guitar and amp. But the Perpetual Burn, IMHO, is far from being either bright or thin. To me, it's sweetly balanced. YMMV.

amps are all over the place but usually bf fender reverb amps. guitar is bright and kinda thin, hence me leaning towards something fatter and not overly bright. im starting with the wlh neck cause its warmer and a little hotter than a 59n. i have a wlh bridge but i dont think that will suit this guitar

The JB was literally made for an HH Tele originally, right?
Maybe a 250K volume would be enough to tame the highs enough. Or an individual tone control.

Perpetual Burn is a favorite of mine too. It isn't at all thin, but it is very well-balanced.
A guitar that's unusually bright/thin might take away some of what makes it great.
Still, it's absolutely glorious in Strat types with trems, so why shouldn't it work in a bright Tele?

I agree with Juanhanglo; some DiMarzios are especially good at fattening thin sounding 25½" scale guitars.
The Breed was specifically designed for that and does it beautifully. I feel The Breed never got the appreciation it deserved.
Perhaps it's another case of a name that doesn't really match the pickup, like the Sceamin Demon.
Anyway, you can still find Breed bridge pickups on eBay even though they quit making 'em years ago.

AT-1 would also be a great choice for a naturally bright guitar IMO.
Not quite as thick as The Breed, equally rich but maybe a tad more open sounding.
Still fat & singing all the way up the neck, thanks to the trademark DiMarzio mids.
Muscular without going over-the-top hot, and beefy without getting overly chunked - still has some bounce in the feel.
The AT-1 cleans up far better than the JB, I think. And it splits very nicely.

I was kinda pushing the Perpetual Burn, but I forgot that my favorite Tele, is Seymour's favorite Tele: The JB/Jazz combo. It's tough to beat in a dual 'bucker Tele.

i have a patb3 here, and love it, but im thinking it may be too thin in this particular guitar, hence the cc or jb.
