The JB was literally made for an HH Tele originally, right?
Maybe a 250K volume would be enough to tame the highs enough. Or an individual tone control.
Perpetual Burn is a favorite of mine too. It isn't at all thin, but it is very well-balanced.
A guitar that's unusually bright/thin might take away some of what makes it great.
Still, it's absolutely glorious in Strat types with trems, so why shouldn't it work in a bright Tele?
I agree with Juanhanglo; some DiMarzios are especially good at fattening thin sounding 25½" scale guitars.
The Breed was specifically designed for that and does it beautifully. I feel The Breed never got the appreciation it deserved.
Perhaps it's another case of a name that doesn't really match the pickup, like the Sceamin Demon.
Anyway, you can still find Breed bridge pickups on eBay even though they quit making 'em years ago.
AT-1 would also be a great choice for a naturally bright guitar IMO.
Not quite as thick as The Breed, equally rich but maybe a tad more open sounding.
Still fat & singing all the way up the neck, thanks to the trademark DiMarzio mids.
Muscular without going over-the-top hot, and beefy without getting overly chunked - still has some bounce in the feel.
The AT-1 cleans up far better than the JB, I think. And it splits very nicely.
